Located on Phu Quoc's northwestern tip is Bãi biển Gành Dầu (Ganh Dau Beach). Not one of Phu Quoc's best beaches, but there are very few tourists on this part of the island if you are looking for some peace. You'll discover a few seafood restaurants on the beachfront, including my favorite DILA Phu Quoc, which I'll tell you more about below.

Where is Ganh Dau Beach Phu Quoc?

Ganh Dau Beach lies on Phu Quoc's northwestern shore, past Vinpearl Discovery in Ganh Dau Fishing Village.

How to Get to Ganh Dau Beach

From Duong Dong City, take the DT45 about 30km north, passing Ong Lang and Vinpearl Safari Park until you arrive at Ganh Dau Beach. DILA Phu Quoc restaurant will be on your right, directly across the road from Ganh Dau Beach.

I don't think Ganh Dau Beach is worth the trip on its own; however, if you are planning a trip to Starfish Beach, I recommend taking the Suoi Cai - Ganh Dau road to Ganh Dau Beach on the way back.

It's a beautiful scenic route along a dirt road surrounded by lush green forest. You can stop at DILA Phu Quoc on Ganh Dau Beach for lunch/dinner before taking the DT45 back down south.

Things to do at Ganh Dau Beach

Nothing happens on Ganh Dau Beach. There are a few restaurants, the beach, and a small village. The beach was once beautiful, I'm sure but, Ganh Dau Beach has a lot of litter, which sadly makes it unattractive.

Ganh Dau Islands

There are three small islands off the northwest coast of Ganh Dau, Hon Do Moi, Hon Thay Boi, and Hon Bang. If you book a snorkeling or scuba trip, you'll have the option of visiting these islands.

But for 700k VND (USD$ 30), you can charter one of the local fishing boats and do your own thing. The boats can take four people comfortably.

I have never visited any of the Ganh Dau Islands, but it's popular with locals for picnics and overnight camping on the beach.

One of my restaurants in Phu Quoc is DILA across the road from Ganh Dau Beach. DILA has a massive menu, mostly seafood dishes, with a mix of Vietnamese, Asian, and western-style options.

The portions are generous, and everything I've eaten at DILA was delicious! The seafood is fresh and well prepared. The best dish I had was a fish curry with rice.

The iced coconut coffee is worth the trip alone! They freeze the coconut milk and then serve with a shot of espresso over the top. It's the best coconut coffee I've ever had and worth the 30-minute ride from Duong Dong for just a sip.
