If you ever get tired of exploring the island's beaches, you'll be spoiled for choice when it comes to things to do on Phu Quoc island.
Whether you're a solo traveler, couple, or even a family traveling with kids, Phu Quoc has plenty to keep you entertained.
The island is undergoing a massive facelift, so expect to see even more entertainment coming to the island between 2020 and 2025.
Snorkeling / Boat Trip
One of the most popular activities is a boat trip to islands surrounding Phu Quoc. I know a few people who have gone on the 3 Island Trip package from John's Tours and said it was well worth the USD$32 price.
John's 3 Island Tour goes to Mong Tay island, Gam Ghi Island, and May Rut Island, which all lie south of the cable car. The boat holds a maximum of 30 people.
Diving
There are several dive spots around Phu Quoc island. One of the most established dive centers on the island is Red River Divers located in Duong To.
Red River Divers have English, Vietnamese, and Russian instructors. If you have never dived before, Red River offers both NDL and PADI open water diver courses.
Dives start from USD$60 for a single to $90 for two. Night dives are also available for USD$100.
Fishing
Fishing off Phu Quoc can be a lot of fun. Both day and night fishing charters are available, with the opportunity to catch a wide variety of species.

Watersports
At some beaches on Phu Quoc island, you'll find parasailing, jet skiing, and other watersports on offer.
On average, you can expect to pay around USD$22 for 10 minutes parasailing and USD$30 for 10 minutes jet skiing. There is no need to book in advance.

Waterpark at Thom Island (You need to take the cable car to get there)
Vinpearl Land and Safari Park
If you're looking for something to do with the kids, VinWonders in northwest Phu Quoc is a great place to keep them busy for the day.
Activities include an aquarium, amusement park rides, arcade games, 4D/5D movie theater, waterpark, and much more. Kids tickets start at USD$13, while adults start at USD$22.
Just across the road from Vinpearl Land is Vinpearl Safari Park, which is essentially a big zoo. The safari park has many animals to see, and you can even hand-feed feed giraffe.
Phu Quoc Cable Car
One of my favorite things to do in Phu Quoc Island is the cable car to Thom Island. The cable car costs USD$6.50 for a return ticket, and the journey takes you from Phu Quoc over three islands to arrive at Thom Island.
It takes about 15 minutes to get to Thom Island with some spectacular views of the ocean and southern Phu Quoc.
The journey doesn't end there. On Thom Island, you can visit the Sunworld Waterpark at the beach or eat at one of many restaurants. There is also a second waterpark under construction with massive slides and pools. The new waterpark is to open sometime in early 2020.
Phu Quoc Waterfalls and Hiking
If you're looking to explore the natural side of Phu Quoc, there are a few waterfalls, a lake, and hiking to keep you busy.
The Duong Dong Lake is about 15 minutes inland from the main city center. If you travel to the far end of the dam wall, there is a path that takes you into the forest.
You can walk for a few hours around the lake and deep into the forest below Phu Quoc National Park. Unfortunately, Phu Quoc National Park is a military zone, and civilians are not allowed access.
South of Duong Dong Lake is Suối Đá Bàn (Da Ban Stream). Suoi Da Ban is a rocky section of the river with pools and small waterfalls. There are also several trails leading off the Sui Da Ban to explore.
South of the airport is the Suối Tranh (Suoi Tranh) Waterfall. Suoi Tranh is a little bigger and has more water flowing than Suoi Da Ban. There is a large pool at the bottom of the falls to swim and cool off.
Clubs and Bars
At night Phu Quoc comes alive... sort of. Duong Dong city and south towards the airport is where you'll find most of Phu Quoc's nightlife.
There are many bars and beach clubs to explore; however, it's often difficult to find one that's full of people. You have to bar hop a little to find a place that's happening.
Đường Trần Hưng Đạo (Tran Hung Dao Street) from the city south is the best place to start your search for a party.

Lunar Bar - No beach access. It starts to fill up after 21:00.
Ocsen Beach Bar - Beach access. Great for sunsets. Fireshow at 22:00.
Ocvan Beach Bar - Beach access. Great for sunsets. Gets empty by 20:00.
Happy Buddha - No beach access. Opens 20:30. It starts to fill up at 22:00.
Pineapple Bar - No beach access. Great food menu. Party gets going after 20:00.
Blue Monkey Bar - No beach access. Party gets going after 20:00.
Sunset Beach Bar - On the beach. Great for sunsets with live DJ.
Getting Around Phu Quoc
Getting around Phu Quoc is pretty easy. If you can ride a scooter, you can expect to pay around 150k (USD$6.50) per day.
There are always plenty of taxis on the main road, and you can also use Grab.
